Médoc Actif and the art of letting go
Some of our companions, who were passionately committed to Médoc Actif, have already passed away. And us? We're not getting any younger either. When is the right time to let go? And why do it at all?
The content of our website reflects one of the newer eras of the Médoc, in which – as in all eras – many things have changed. New structures have emerged, associations have disbanded, new ones have been added. The landscape has changed – new houses, new streets, an altered region. Even social life is different today than it was 15 years ago; a new generation has begun to actively shape the future of the Médoc and to communicate via newer media.
And what about us, the ‘old guard’?
There is a great temptation to simply continue with Médoc actif as before. But we are practising the art of letting go, which is all the easier for us as our audience's media habits have also changed. We are happy to leave it to the younger generation to deal with activities and developments in the Médoc and to publicise them.
But there is one thing that is immune to change at Médoc actif: the subjective documentation of the Médoc era from 2009 to 2025, which, in addition to presenting personal commitments, also contains a wealth of historical information. So we are keeping the website including the Médoc agenda and only adding current information to the latter.
In any case, our website will remain online for a while and hopefully inspire one or the other to new activities. We would like to thank all our active friends and guests for their cooperation and interest and wish them continued active and inspiring experiences in the Médoc!
