Online-working? At home? If you prefer the company of others, head for “Le Cube Coworking” at Montalivet. You’ll find about 15 work stations at your disposal, for hire by the day or month. Fibre-optics, coffee and social contact are included. And the key point is that Le Cube looks out onto the beach, with a distant view of the Atlantic ocean. Tourists, present-day nomads and workers in online-working come here to engage in co-working.

A meeting place

The unique feature of Le Cube Coworking is that it is a third space. The sociologist Ray Oldenburg defines third spaces as important points of contact which are neither purely private (first spaces) nor purely professional (second spaces): for example, libraries, parks and reading cafes. In recent years, around 2,000 associations have created third spaces with the support of the state. These are places for meeting and exchanging ideas. A community of users of all sorts take over the place, develops its ideas while sharing a glass of beer in the evening, and so energises the whole of the local environment.

Le Cube at Montalivet-les-Bains

Culture and art are an integral part of the concept of Le Cube. Local artists exhibit here, there are courses in cooking for adults, courses in drawing for children, and language courses for tourists. The association organises a Christmas Fair for its members, supports artistic projects, environmental associations and educational projects. A teaching space can be hired for workshops and on-line meetings.

Better than work!

For me, co-working is an extremely positive experience. I can work there without being disturbed. I can concentrate, and there is a room for my language courses. Thanks to Le Cube I have now developed contacts, found clients and project partners. In addition, people I have met at Le Cube have become friends.
